3 monitors on a 6850 2X DVI and 1 DP

I have an old Gigabyte HD6850 OC. As per user manual it says I can do 3 displays DVI+DVI and an ACTIVE display port. I understand these requirements because of the DACs shared between one of the DVI ports (thereby needing the active adapter to enable a 3rd display in either HDMI, CRT/VGA or a third DVI monitor.

What is unclear to me (and I have not found a definitive answer on the web) is whether a 3rd monitor with a native display port connection work? The final connection will therefore be DVI+DVI+DP

I have 2X24" Samsung's and would like to purchase a 3rd Samsung monitor (27") like the LS27A850DS - and while this monitor has both DVI and DP (it is a fairly expensive model and saving a few dollars on a DP adapter/dongle would be appreciated. I understand that there may be other "better" models/brands out there, but I would simply prefer another Samsung mainly due to the support that I have received from them in the previous years.

Being able to work with eyefinity would be a plus but I technically just need 3 active monitors for work/documents/web so the 6850 (1GB) should be sufficient

Solution
All native DP ports on monitors are active DP ports, which you can hook to your 6850 to set as the main display in a eyefinity setup normally.

There are two RamDacs in most cards. Sapphire has a "Flex" version that has three RamDacs, but that is the limiting factor. It is frustrating, the issue is vague, but I am pretty sure the only exception to the rule is that a second DP can be daisy chained from the first, so you could effectively have four DP monitors without any adapters or 1 DVI and 2 DP from the same DP port on the card. Expensive! I run 5 monitors from a 6950 "Flex": 2 DVI, 1 HDMI, 2 DP to DVI with Accell active adapters ( about $30 each on Amazon ).

That's what I figured but needed some sort of validation from other users. Right after I posted my question I found a reference on the AMD website that said native dp monitors or active dongle's for dp should work. Basically, the first two on anything and the 3rd via dp either directly (natively) or via active adapter

Thanks for the reply !
