Hi, i have searched all through the forum/site, but haven't really found the answer I need.

My setup:

CPU - Intel i7-3930K
MOBO - Asus x79 Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard
GPU - GTX 690
Memory - 32gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400mhz ram
Water cooled

I am looking to buy a new 24" or 27" monitor, I have no budget.

I have a 24" Samsung BX2450 currently, and want to use it along with the new one.

Question is, what are the best monitors in both categories, best visually, 120hz v higher res etc etc. The few threads I have read which are mid last year dated, may have missed the newer ones though.

Mainly for FPS gaming. Thanks.

I think if I were you go for a 1440p, as you can use that for everything including gaming. 120hz is good but only comes in the TN format :(  I want a 1440p 120hz monitor

Check the monitor guide linked in my sig, might help you make the decision.

Also go for dual 780's rather than a 690, far more powerful and far more VRAM.

Has there been any talk of a 1440p/1600p 120hz monitor being released in the 27"?

The closest your going to get to that is the Yamasaki Catleap Extreme 2B (check under "Overclocking monitors in my guide).
Other than that, you cant get 120hz displays above 1080p.
