OK, so, my question is, i already have a sata 6.0gbs ssd, (samsung 840 pro), so my questions was, should i get a pcie ssd ALSO? or will it just hurt performance, not give too much of a boost, etc.

Solution
You already have an SSD, and the best one available at that.
Quite simply, for what your using it for you wont see any difference by getting a PCI-E based SSD.

Depends on what you want to do with it....If OS/apps is already on an SSD, then maybe if you need room for more apps, or you use extremely large static data sets that don't change - if thinking to store data that constantly changes then not really a good idea as writes to the SSD can/do shorten the life span

PCI-E SSD's perform far better than SATAIII SSD's, they basically are multiple SSD's in RAID0 on the one card, given an interface that can prvide the bandwidth to support that performance.
However, they are veeery expensive, only really aimed at Enterprise (ie; server grade) customers with some exceptions. And for teh standard desktop, you just simply don't need that ridiculous level of performance.

Very true, my response was keyed off the word 'also' in OPs question which sounded like an additional drive for data - and writes are still a no-no even as SSDs and the chips get better

Don't really see it helping either, and as mentioned before, document editing implies non static files and temp files which are writes to the SSD, even loading the documents unless talking long reports, chapters, books, you prob wouldn't even notice anything

You said you had SSD, you asked if you should get this ALSO, I've asked a few times what are you going to use it for, now you seem to indicate you want it for a boot drive, where before you said gaming and document editing, before that when I asked you responded simply 'So, should I"....don't know about others here, but I am just trying to help people, POSTS like this are nothing more than a waste of my and others time. Figure out what you might want it for and then ask in a complete question, I for one don't apprecite you wasting my time
