look pretty good to me ( starts his stop watch to see how long it takes till someone comes in here to suggest intel)

i'd probably chuck a bit more at the CPU as your still under budget and go for a fx8350 , scan has it at £150
http://www.scan.co.uk/products/amd-fx-8350-black-edition-vishera-8-core-s-am3plus-40ghz-16mb-total-cache-125w-retail

while all 8 cores is probably not something your going to be using a hell of a lot that 4.2 ghz turbo clock will come in handy and is definately £50 well spent ...

best of luck to you

What's up Tall guy! Nice choice on going AMD if you're planning on saving some money, the CPU you have is awesome, and very cheap.

For the motherboard, I'm really not good on these so I can't say anything about it.

GPU good choice too.

For the RAM, have you considered looking towards Ripjaws? They have good Ram for cheap also.

HDD,Warning.. Big warning, Seagate has a reputation for their harddrives to die randomly, or be DOA (Dead on arrival).. So makesure you ahve a backup.

SSD Is really optional, but if you really want one, go for it! If you'r trying to saved money, that's the thing I would drop.

This is also a good PSU IMO, but you have a good on there, Diablotek UL Series PSUL675 675W ATX 12V v2.31 SLI.

The one thing you're missing is a case, have you any idea which case you want? Unless you already have one? Your old PC that's salvageable might not be good for the case, but it depends on what it's like.

Good luck!

thanks guys!

right im gona put some money in the cpu to upgrade it to the 8350 like synthaside said ( wont need to 8 cores but considering new games are starting to adapt to the 6 cores i guess the 8 cores should help future proof my system to an extent)

and thanks Jeremy i guess i'll get a Toshiba/Hitachi DT01ACA100 1TB (7K1000.D) SATA III - 6Gb/s Hard Drive 7200rpm to replace it hopefuly that dont die on me!
and the budget just hit 550 and i was thinking of geting the Inwin white Gaming Case for £91.18 but i guess that aint happening so im just gona get a cheeper end case with the last £50 i guess

hey guys! been a while since i posted this completly forgot about it :O (i know thats really bad BUT im back!) so i did end up building a pc rig but thanks to an increase in budget (thanks MUM!) i ended up at around the £950 mark so this is what i brought and build:

CPU: i7 4770K
MOBO: ASUS Z-87 PRO
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2 X 4GB (1600)
HARD DRIVE: 2TB Seagate
WATER COOLER: Corsair H110 (massive had problems finding a case that fit this other than Corsair own cases of course)
GPU: 2GB VTX 7850
PSU: Corsair GS700 (you could probably run 2 PC's off this thing :ouch: )
CASE: INWIN Gun Metal Grey Full Tower Case (this case is solid, but after you get everything inside its damn heavy :heink: )
so i know its way different from what i started out with but tbh i can play planet side 2 on absolute ULTRA (before ive never been able to play games on mid let alone ULTRA settings) and have stable (ish) frames of 60-70 the frames only go as low as 56 (ish) when im in intense battle's and considering planetside 2 is one of the most demanding games out there im pretty happy! :D

on every other game i get above 90 FPS on high/full settings

so thanks guys for the input! and if any one got any other Q's then let me know and i'll answer it (from one newbie to another)

cheers guys,
