HP printer ink cartridge - Fail?

I have a HP C5280 All-in-One printer which has served me well for a few years and all of a sudden I get error mssgs. saying ink cartridge problem. I've replaced both the black and multi-color ink carts. with fresh HP cartridges and still the problem occurs. Any ideas? I'd really like to keep the printer as well as the $65 worth of ink I have in it.

With the printer off and the ink cartridges in there replacement position. Take them out and clean the cable under them. Look at the print head tray and cables for dirt or a cut cable. If it not a cut cable it could be the cable is lose on the printer logic board or the board went bad.
