Just replaced an HDD in my Presario c700 - laptop. Then tried to install vista from external dvd, (since original install was on the previously failed HDD) after checks on memory, hd, etc. that all checked out. When I run from disc to install, it gets to the screen where it asks if I want to install with quick format or long format or just leave it. I have tried all of them and they just lead me to the next screen that says hit enter to install. It flashes the install background with a bar at 0% and some other writing, then immediately reboots the system, and asks me to press spacebar to boot from cd. Endless hell. The HDD is an identical one from a same make computer, and it checks out under tools. What the heck is the problem and what am I doing wrong ? I even tried it with Windows 7 and xp boot installs, much to the same result. This is ridiculous.......
