Hi im buying 8gb of 2x4gb sticks of corsair vengeance ddr3 1600 ram but my MOBO comes with a 8gb stick of crucial ddr3 1600 can i use these 3 ram sticks together?
ya lol i just realized that, but you were alot of help and if the memory didnt work just take out the crucial stick right? oh and the mother board is dual channel so i would put the pair in the two channels and the random stick in one of the others right?
Yes, you can take out the crucial if it doesn't work which I think will work for sure. As mentioned in the above post by rex I do agree the recommended memory combination is to install the memory in pairs (in even number). But recent motherboards are capable of running the memory in Flex mode.
Flex Mode:It results in both dual- and single- channel operation across the whole of DRAM memory. IMO, the 2 x 4GB will run in Dual channel mode while the 8GB will...
ok thanks for the quick reply and the crucial is 1.35v but the pair of vegeance is 1.5v is that a problem?
Could you let me know your motherboard model name and number?
No, it should not be a problem at all but you can never know sometimes it can cause stability depending on the motherboard. As far as mixing brand is concerned it should work fine.

I think I have already explained in one your other threads. Yes, the memory will work.

IMO, 2x4gb in dual channel > 2x4gb +1x8gb (not Dual Channel). The performance increase of dual channel vastly out weighs having 8 more gigs of un-utilized RAM
If all youre doing is gaming, you wont need more than 8 anyway. CS6 and large video encoding would start to need more than 8.
