gpu bottlenecking my cpu

I just upgraded my system to 8gb of DDR3 ram and an amd fx-6300 on a Asus M5A97 and it is very slow. slower than my athlon 64 x2 proccesur with 4gb of ram. Oh year I have a xfx radeon 6700 graphics card.

Slower at what? Games? Make sure you have installed all of the latest drivers and such, but a complete re-install of the OS *shouldn't* be necessary going from AMD to AMD (even if they are generations apart). I even avoided a reinstall going from AMD to Intel, though it was a little work.

At everything just normal web browsing or looking for files it just freezes.
