Comments on first budget build?

Video Card: ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI
Case: Corsair 400R ATX Mid Tower
PSU: CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-650TX 650W
Optical: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer
$798 after tax/shipping/MIR

I'm only focusing on the essentials right now. Anywhere I could be more cost efficient for the same performance? Compatibility issues? (pcpartpicker says I'm fine) Not looking to spend much more. Thanks :)

  1. Looks OK but I would get 2x 4gb ram instead of 1 x8gb as dual channel ram will give you better performance than a single stick.

    For the GPU I would if you can get a GTX 660ti or GTX 670 as it will give you better performance in gaming than a 660. Other than those two it looks good.

    Yeah I planned on getting more ram, the 1x 8gb is free so it felt convenient. The graphics card I chose is on sale for $169 and I feel like it's a good deal; maybe I could sli in the future? Thanks for your input!
  3. Dont buy single channel RAM, spend like $60 and get a dual channel kit. Other than that your build looks fine.
