(Please excuse me if I am proven to be less than knowledgeable on terms of hardware and the like.)

I have just finished my first build and installed Windows 8. The only problem is when I'm trying to update drivers for my Radeon HD7870 Myst Edition video card. CCC runs smoothly and goes through all the installations. Once it finishes, it tabs back into the tray and I cannot open it (nor can I tab into anything on the tray). All sorts of funky stuff happens. After digging through my device manager, I noticed that my video card was not being detected and that it was using something called "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter." I proceeded to the DirectX Diagnostic tool and it gave me the same response. No Radeon HD7870 in sight. So, I go back to the jungle of wires and find my video card spinning smoothly. What is the problem? Here are my specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/11ebA

I'm going to guess that you've plugged your monitor into the graphics card and not the onboard motherboard port. Try seeing if your graphics card is detected in the BIOS, if it isn't, then you might have to update your BIOS, you can look up a tutorial on that. Oh, and of course, it could be a faulty graphics card.
