Hello. I just ran 3dmark for first time and don't think my results were very good. Here it is http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6727799?

Right now my comp can run most games on max settings and stay above 35-40fps. On Crysis 3 I have to turn the settings from very high to high to get those frames and I'm getting terrible FPS in Star Wars The old Republic (MMORPG) when there are many people casting many spells and stuff.

I just noticed that I may have different ram? My Alienware came with 3 gigs and my friend ordered the same one, got different ram and gave me his old 3 gigs.
Not sure whats going on there.

I also saw on CPU test I only got about 20FPS.

Any input is appreciated.

Well first off, who ever told you OC'ing will damage your card either doesn't know much about OC'ing or was talking about OC'ing by increasing the voltage, "Overvolting".
Your card will be able to "Safely" OC it's performance a very decent amount on the GPU clock and the VRAM without any increase in voltage, (Stock Voltage).
As for reducing the life of the card, well again yes possibly it could if you was overvolting it by quite a lot, but a normal stock voltage OC isn't going to do anything to your card.
It's obviously entirely up to you, but as I said when I got my GTX 690 which is equivalent to 2 7950's so some people would say it's overkill for current games, but I still OC'ed it straight away because it's a free boost in...

Ok yea that makes sense I want to get new ram anyway since I have 6 1 gig sticks and I was told that isn't so good. But I mean I can run all games on max settings except crysis 3 in that one I have to turn down the shadows and shading to high. I'm trying to get better FPS in the Star Wars game but that may be the game engine or implementation and not my hardware because people with much better rigs experience the same thing.

Yeah 2x 4GB sticks of RAM would be better. Absolutely no need for more than 8GB for gaming and normal usage.

Have you tried overclocking it, it's incredibly easy and safe, that will boost fps and overall performance. MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision are the best two OC'ing apps.
Even if your card is voltage locked you can still get a big chunk of extra power from it. My GTX 690 is voltage locked so OC'ing is limited but I still managed to OC mine from, GPU Clock 1005Mhz to 1194Mhz and the VRAM up a good amount as well.

Nope have not tried overclocking. I just got this card a few days ago and people tell me not to OC because I can fry my card or it wont last as long. Right now all the games run well on max settings. I'm getting over 40fps in all games, even crysis3. So I don't know if it's worth OC'ing the card right now. The Star Wars game is weird because people with amazing comps get the same low fps. The RAM is the next thing I'm going to do. I will get 8 gigs probably because 16 is expensive.

Hey so last night I was playing Metro2033 and I was at a part with some special lighting and smoke coming down into a dark tunnel.
My FPS dropped really low here. I know they use this part of the game for benchmarking and stuff but I think with a 7950 I shouldnt be getting low fps anywhere in metro2033. Also I noticed that my free memory goes down to like 200 when im playing.

The first game I played when I got the 690 was Far Cry 3, and just that stock voltage OC gave me an increase of 12-15fps, which personally I think makes it well worth it, but as I said that up to you. If you're worried about it, post another thread asking if it's safe.

Anyway, well I've been looking around and asking a few people with a 7950 and play Metro LL and they all said 60fps was achievable on high settings with no SSAA, or 30-40fps on very-high/ultra settings again with no SSAA.
So when you played it, what settings did you have on, because others with a 7950 even an OC'ed card reported a drop to 15fps with SSAA enabled!?!?

Also when you said your memory goes down, what exactly do you mean???

Hope this helps.

{Edit} Also from what I'm reading, Metro LL seems to be bias to Nvidia cards, and AMD are apparently working on a driver update to remedy this.

i kinda have to agree. i have an overclocked 7970 sapphire vapor-x and i can't maxx out metro last light without getting fps droops to like 10fps. i have to run it with ssaa off and a few settings on high instead of very high to get a decent 50+fps.

Hello again. First of thanks for all your replies and input they are much appreciated.

So I'm a total noob when it comes to OC'ing and that is why I was skeptical about it but now that you've explained it I will be trying it out. Here is my card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202007. I just ordered some new RAM so ill pop that in first and take it from there. I was told the card is Voltage locked so I guess thats good for me ( I won't be able to fry it ). The Catalyst Control Center has a page there where I can increase the clock and memory. Right now I have 6 gigs of ram, 6 one gig sticks. 3 of the sticks are Samsung DDR3 533mhz and the other 3 are a different brand DDR3 and 677mhz. I know they are running at the lower frequency and I read that DDR3 533mhz is equal to 1066mhz which is not much slower than 1600? I was also told that having 6 one gig sticks is no good and that I should get new ram which I did. Today I ordered this RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 . I believe 1600mhz is the max my motherboard takes.

Now on to Metro. I am playing Metro2033 not Metro LL. Till yesterday I was getting above 40fps everywhere in the game with max settings.
The frames only dropped in one area where there was a crack in the ceiling that let in a white light with smoke swirling inside it. When I aimed the camera at that light is when I noticed the drop in fps, also noticed drop in fps in the vicinity of the white light and when I threw grenades around it. Now this was all done with max settings. It got better when I turned the settings down one step but who wants to play that way? :) oh and this part of the game is what they use for a benchmarking tool they made. There were also 2 other settings that when I turned them off my frames jumped from about 60 to 110. One of those settings was Tessellation and the other I can't remember right now but will check it if needed. Those 2 settings were on their own page in the options.

Anywho... I've played the new Tomb Raider game with max settings at 50+fps. I even run Crysis 3 on max settings and get above 40fps. I do have to turn down shadows/shading from very high to high though or my frames drop dramatically.

Another thing I noticed about my current RAM is that when I'm playing a game and I go into the Task manager and look in the Performance tab I see my physical memory... Total-6134
Cached- 1667
Available- 1635
Free- 33.
This is what its telling me right now and I have the Star Wars game running. When I checked it with no game running I had about 600 Free. I'm thinking that since I have almost no Free memory while playing that it is what may be causing the frame loss? But again I'm a noob and that's just a wild guess. It may mean something else entirely. In the green bar thingy it says 4.38GB right now.
