I am having a seagate baracuda 500 GB hard disk, last when i turned on my pc my boot time was long so i changed the os. Later it was working fine.Few days later my hard disk was spinning got detected in bios but did not boot, So i tried to put in other pc and tried but it didn't work. I almost have 400 GB of important data. Is there any way to get my data back.

You are using the 7200.11 model? Anything from 7200.10 to .12 are untrustworthy drives... If you want to salvage the data now.. plug in any extra drive.. make a bootable version of ubuntu either on usb or disc.. boot your comp from usb or cd and it should recognize the drive.. You can use the try it out version of ubuntu instead of installing to copy data over to the other drive. Should work as long as bios recognizes it. Or you might be able to partition a small amount of the drive and install ubuntu onto that partition and then keep from using it untill you get a new working drive to transfer everything to.

I agree with above. If you hard drive is spinning it could just be spinning the plates and the pin can be broken. Spinning plates don't really mean much.. if your OS is giving you issues, it's very slow, crashing or having difficulty in bios.. chances are it's a failing hard drive. Backup your information and get a new drive. Go with an SSD and you won't have these issues again :)
