You won't be able to play all games on max settings. its fine for gaming, Just not at ultra high resolutions or ultra presets. If you want a graphics card that can max everything expect to pay upwards of $500

NOTHING, repeat NOTHING is future proof. But the 7870 is a very good card that you will be able to play most current games on max settings in a single 2D monitor configuration. This video card in 3 or more monitors or 3D configurations will not sufficient to play at max settings.

It is a VERY GOOD card, but not the top card available at this time.

i second that. Nothing is future proof with PC's. Except maybe power supplies, but even then they aren't totally.

You can play all games on High at 1080p with that card right now, but you'll inevitably have to drop to Medium when newer, more demanding games come out this fall, and next year. Then two years from now, you'll probably have to drop some to Low settings.

Nothing is future-proof, but if you're comfortable with selling on ebay, you can get a 75% of what you paid for the card and put that toward a newer card at the same price-point every year.
