MicroCenter has deal today that can basically get me a 4th gen i5-4670k with ASRock Z87-Extreme4 ATX LGA 1150 for just $30 more than an third gen i5-3570k with Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H LGA 1155 Z77 ATX.

This ASRock motherboard isn't visually as appealing, but I think way better, plus it would obviously have the 4th gen i5.

Is this is no brainer? Should I go with the new CPU and the nicer motherboard for the $30 price increase? I'm really hoping to save money, but I can do this. It seems like it's going to do better for 1440p moderate gaming (civ 5, css, bf3).
My vido card is a gtx 660 CUII (not ti, not boost, got on sale), and I've got 6gb. I DO NOT plan to overclock much or SLI. I'm new to this. I don't plan on immediately install new fans. My case is define r4.

I could downgrade to a MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate LGA 1150 ATX motherboard with the 4th gen i5, but the ASRock has nicer sound (which matter to me given my headphones). So the price savings for the MSI would only be $20.

Thanks so much. I'll definitely consider all input and with much appreciation.

I'd like to do 1440p civ 5, and CS:S. For bf3 i don't intend on maxing out settings (I don't even own the game atm).

Is this mobo worth the extra money over the msi? will the sound be betteR?

Feature wise, sure.

1440P would definitely be possible for Civ and CS, for BF3 med-high would be possible.

Am I fool to go with the MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate LGA 1150 ATX over the ASRock Z87-Extreme4 ATX LGA 1150. It would save me $50 actually. I don't OC or SLI. However, this MSI board supposedly ain't very good.

Can you explain why?

I don't care about sound, SLI, overclocking, and I don't plan to have more than 2 SSDs ever. I also don't have big cooling system.
