I keep getting this weird problem. My new system freezes in games anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours into the game. What i don't understand though is i can run furmark and prime95 stress tests at the same time and not get any problems. When it freezes it makes a constant buzzing sound through the speakers. I have also reinstalled windows 3 times. Please help!

System Specs:
-Intel i5 3570k with Intel HD 4000
-Asrock z77 pro3
-8GB Crucial ballistic sport (already replaced ram with these didn't fix anything)
-600w thermaltake psu
-120gb seagate HDD (bought this cheap to see if it would fix the problem)

World of Warcraft, Gary's Mod, Rift, and Guild Wars 2. Nothing that gpu intensive. I dont see how it could be a graphics card issue when it passes gpu stress tests even when a cpu stress test is running at the same time.

Likely that it's poor optimisation for intel's on-board GFX which is why stress testing tools work whereas games tend to assume you have a graphics card. With that motherboard and processor it's natural that we've also assumed you have a dedicated graphics card. Problems should cease once you do aquire a graphics card.

I guess so but it doesn't seem like anyone else using an igpu with this mobo has this same issue. The only reason im using the igpu is because im waiting untill i get enough cash for a higher end gpu and the freezes occur in all games

Definately a GFX problem that crashes your system.

Two things to check:

1) Make sure you're using the newest GFX drivers.

2) Improve the airflow over your motherboard. Dependant on your case and spare computer fans this may require removing the side panel and directing a household fan into the case.

Let us know the results.

I have ran furmark it doesn't freeze or crash and I've ran furmark and prime95 at the same time and it doesn't freeze. Its not because the igpu cant run the games. My 3 year old laptop has no problem running these games at the same graphics settings. I also dont want to waste $100 on a gpu when I'm aiming to get a higher end one in a month or two.

Ok so the problem seems to be fixed. I've gone through a day without any freezing when usually the pc freezes within 5 minutes of gaming.

What fixed my problem:
- Fixed bent cpu socket pins
- Changed the slots the ram was in
- Plugged the HDD into a different SATA port

I'm not sure which one fixed it specifically but I would assume it was due to the bent pins. I didn't actually realize how many pins were bent. It must have happened while I was placing the cpu down. I thought I would add how i fixed my problem incase any of you are encountering the same issue. Ill let you guys know if the problem occurs again but hopefully not. Thanks for everyones help.
