Update ati mobility radeon hd5470 drivers for my HP pavilion dv7

I cannot seem to update my drivers past what HP updates them to /8.770.2.1000 witch is a few years old. There are new drivers for it but upon trying to install them the screen goes black forcing me to hard restart and install the HP drivers again. I really need some help getting this done, pulling my hair out here :p

I am using a HP pavilion dv7-4169wm.

For laptops, it's better to use the drivers provided by the system manufacturer (in this case HP). If you try to get drivers directly from AMD or nVidia, you're likely to run into problems because their drivers aren't optimized for mobility version of their cards, or most of the time they're simply not compatible, probably explains why you're getting a black screen. My advise would be to stick with HP drivers only, even though they are older.
