As a serious gamer do you feel like buying a Radeon 7870 and Jaguar AMD cpu?

On a core-by-core basis, the Jaguar AMD cpu has less than one quarter of the performance of your standard i5-3570k cpu, and the Radeon 7870 comes in as low as 200$ in some places, making it comparable with maybe the GTX660. If I put them into a box and gave you a couple of controllers would I get a sale from you?

These are the graphics card and processor of the PS4, as you may know. This is the main thing I think about when trying to decide whether or not to buy a PS4... do I want to buy these parts when I already have a serious gaming pc?

The games will be optimized to run on the Consoles so that allot of horse power they have to work with. Look at how great Metro last Light looks on the ancient hardware in the Xbox 360 and PS3. Also since (GCN) will be cross platform means that optimizations will roll down the AMD (GCN) owners on the PC as well. This is a win win for the whole gaming industry.

Out of all the things that irritated me with the OP's post, I'll pick out the one that bothered me the most.

The 7870 being considered similar in performance to the GTX660 based on it's price.


The 7870's performance actually sits between a 660 Ti and a GTX 670. In some cases matching GTX670 performance. It's just a really good deal right now. It's actually a little pathetic that I can get a 7870 for 210-230 dollars with 4 free games, but the 660 Ti costs 280 dollars minimum.... and is actually the SLOWER Graphics card.

I feel better now.

I think os some games the nvidia cards are faster like BF3 even the 660 is faster than the 7870 in that one. I would say when nivida optimized biased is not present that in almost every case the HD 7870 is much netter than it's nvidia counterparts. The crippled memory really does adversely effect the 660ti in situations where the AA and graphical engine is intense. In reality the 660 is in between the HD 7850 and HD 7870.

I just finished the campaign BF3 on Ultra with 4x MSAA on a Radeon HD 7850 (1gb) the framerate stay above 30fps throughout the whole game and was mostly in the 40 to 50fps range and sometimes capped @ 60fps.

All i got from this is that you're an easily upset person. Also, you're wrong about the comparison to a 660ti. The 660ti or 670 are significantly better cards than what goes into a PS4.
