Lost my Network and IP Address

I tried that this morning. Last night I lost them, and turned everything off. This morning it still appeared to not work, and then it did all of a sudden. So I'm not sure that rebooting it helped. But something -- I don't know what -- allowed me to get internet access, which I have now. But my wireless printer can't connect -- I get "FAIL" in response to Network Name (SSID) found and "No IP address configured". Also, my son wasn't able to use his X-Box Live due to no access, so he "changed the channel", but now I think he's accessing through someone else's network.

Okay, I'm a bit of an idiot today. I have my brain on house refi right now. How do I go into the router settings. I know that I've done this before, but my brain is in "Refi Land" right now, and I can't get out! Can you help me?

Probably:
in the browser - 192.168.1.1 enter the username and password

I'm typing in 192.168.1.1 into the browser and a dialog box comes up asking for my username and password. Username and password for what? My network -- my network name (SSID) and passphrase? I put those in, and I either get nothing (i.e., I get the same dialog box asking for my username and password again) or I get a pink dialog box that says, "401 Unauthorized Authorization required" I'm lost! I know that I'm sounding so stupid. I set this whole network up back when, and now I can't remember anything about how it works. But, of course, I had less than three hours sleep last night! Thank you for your patience!!!

It is asking for the admin username and password for the router. Not the WiFi SSID and passphrase.

If you can't remember what it is....there is a little tiny button somewhere to reset it to factory settings, including the admin username and password. google for the specific model number to tell you exactly where that is.

You will lose all other settings, though. Have to go in and set it all up again.

Did you change the router login info from default settings? (not the SSID or the WPA/WEP passkey) If not it should be something along the lines of - Login : admin/administrator Password: admin/1234/root/(or it might just be left blank)

Okay, thank you so much. Now I'm back on track. Honestly, I learn this stuff to do something, and then I don't look at it again for years, and I forget everything I learned. I'm going to have to find it (amidst all my financial papers for my refi!) because I don't want to reset everything. But that's going to take a while. What do I do once I get into the router settings? What am I looking for?

I know that I did, but I can't find it right now. I know that I have it written down, and I'm going to have to find it because I don't want to reset all the settings to the factory default.

Look for things like Status, IP address, wireless settings...
