I was completely new to this, but im making my way slowly up with increasing my base clock and memory clock on msi afterburner. I still have a couple questions. Is it a problem if you 100% hit your max load (im at around 90-94 on intensive games so far), on average, will staying below 80 Celsius keep my card safe? Im running a Zotac gtx 660 ti.

Solution
On your gpu if you reach 99% thats good. It means the gpu is being fully utilized in that game. As for temps I would say(this is my personal opinion) try to keep it around 60C to 70C. You can always set a custom fan curve to keep the card cooler than having it run on auto when overclocking.

Thanks, Im playing it safe and only added a boost of 138 to both my core clock and Memory clock and the highest temp i've gotten is only 67 c. Im wondering if I could manage a bit higher then 150, but my first time makes me nervous.

I would say if you're getting good results with your overclock right now then you should leave the extra boost when you really need it. The only thing is to just keep taking it slow with overclocking, if its not a stable overclock the gpu won't die it just won't run stable and you'll have to tone it back down to have it running fine. I think the temp is fine, I have my sapphire 7970 at 1100mhz on core and 1610 on memory clock and it runs around that temperature.
