Why is my system freezing?

Hello. I've been experiencing problems with my PC since I have changed the psu. What's happening is after running graphic intensive programs (games, MSI Kombustor) for a few seconds to a few minutes, my PC will randomly freeze. I can't move the mouse, can't ctr alt delete, its completely frozen so that i have to hard restart it.

I'm using a corsair cx500m with a 38a 12v rail, Radeon 7870 LE, and i5 3570k. None of my hardware is overclocked and all temps are normal. I think my graphics card is not getting enough power, is there any way to confirm this?

the fan in it only turns on when it is at 35% load or above or 50 degrees C or above. it only turned on once and was almost always hot to the touch

Thats normal behavior for many modern power supplies. The fan on my AX1200i rarely ever runs. Swap the tx650 back in and see if the freezing issue's go away.

i dont have the tx650 atm. i underclocked the gpu core from 975 to 900 and the memory from 1500 to 1200, and its running stable. 7 mins on msi combustor... does this indicate not enough power?
