I want to purchase this graphics card - (XFX AMD Radeon HD6870 Graphics Card PCI-e 2 GB GDDR5 Memory 2x DVI HDMI) but I'm worried that my current motherboard will Bottleneck it.

Graphics Card Specs - Specifications:

Bus Type: PCI-E 2.1
GPU Clock: 900 Mhz
Memory Bus: 256
Memory Type: DDR5
Memory Size: 2048 MB
Memory Speed: 4200 Mhz
Thermal Solution: FANSINK
Minimum Power Supply Requirement: 550 Watt w/2 x 6-pin Power Cables
Outputs: Dual DVI, HDMI, Dual mini Display Port
Card Dimensions: 8.66 x 4.4 x 1.5
Feature: Directx 11 support, DirectCompute 11, Open CL, Eyefinity Technology, Shader Model 5.0, OpenGL 3.2, Windows 7, Mini-DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4a

My motherboard is this -
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02...

Form factor: uATX: 24.38 cm (9.6 inches) x 24.38 cm (9.6 inches)
Chipset: AMD Hudson-D2 FCH
Memory sockets: 2 x DDR3

Can you not see the Motherboard inside the Spoiler Tag so it doesn't take up a load of space?

Screw it. I'll just ask somewhere else.

Honestly, your best option appears to be saving up and making a new build. While you could theoretically upgrade the GPU with the motherboard, you're hamstrung in multiple places. FM1 is a dead socket and hp's site only has the motherboard supporting up to an 3850, not that exciting given that you have a 3820 now. You also have a 300W OEM-supplied power supply, which even if it has the proper connectors, is way too shoddy to lean on too heavily.

In other words, to significantly upgrade the PC, you'd need a new motherboard, CPU, GPU, and PSU. By the time you did that, you'd already be most of the way to building a new rig anyway.

That's more or less what I thought I'd have to do. Thanks very much for the response.
