I recently finished my build and i absolutely love it. I got my processor from a friend for less than $100, a i7-2600.

Would i benefit from going to an i5-3570k?

Solution
You can definitely last a while with what you have. If you could sell your i7 for about the price of a 3570k, which shouldn't be hard to do, you can overclock and get somewhere around a 30-40% performance increase pretty easily. (10% for going from sandy bridge to ivy, and a 30% overclock, which is cake to achieve.)

The performance of the i5 3570k would not compensate the cost.

If it's used, and he sells the 2600, then it could easily do so. We don't have enough information to say definitively if it's WORTH the upgrade, just that it would be a noticeable performance upgrade.

Yes we need more information but the i7 2600 is still a very strong cpu and at stock speed there wouldn't be a noticeable perfomance boost. So if doesn't have a z77 mobo it's defenatly not worth it. And if he is it's on him to decide if it worth it.

Sorry i didnt reply sooner, i'm at workin pullin 3rd shift>.<

Yeah i have a z77 chipset, but ive also never over clocked anything before so im not sure what exactly i would do..I guess if i had the new cpu i would give it a go, i mean i have a good cpu cooler, cooler master evo 212. Right now my rig doesn't go above 38 C after a few hours of gaming.

Don't know anyone who would buy my i7, and im just thinking theoretical now. I'm getting an idea if it would be leaps and bounds beyond what i have now or can i last a while with what i have..
