Gaming - Lines/Blackscreen with Hum

When I play games on my computer, occasionally the screen will go black and hum, or a screen with color tan, with lines running vertically down and hums will appear. I've tried googling my problem but I can't find a solution/reason why my computer is doing this. I'm assuming it's a graphics problem because it only happens when I play games.

I have an Asus g73jh
Graphics card - ATI Mobility Radeon 5870
Processor - Intel Core i7
Memory - 6GB RAM

I'd check into drivers. Maybe uninstall and reinstall drivers. Check for updates, etc. After that, I would assume a failing card. It might not start showing artifacts and lines with little stress such as web browsing, checking email, but it might when adding stress and heat by playing games.
