I have a 2130 i3 3.4 Ghz intel processor and a hd 7750, however i'm looking to upgrade to a 7950 to prepare for the "next-gen" games, think this would be enough? or should I upgrade the processor and then the video card?

Or maybe a simple 7850 would do the trick? i am looking to go all ultra on games like BF4 and watch dogs

At what resolution would you be playing? And... why not go all the way and get a 7970? :)

Also, your i3 might bottleneck (if not necessary WOULD) both 7950 and/or 7970.

Can you tell us how much you're willing to shell out for the upgrade?

A i3 to a overclocked i5 is a big boost in gaming performance.

Alright, the card has to stay, however i can change my CPU no biggie, however I am planning to save as much as I can, is there one that can possibly suffice for ultra settings when paired with a 7950, the cheapest maybe?

Thats the cheapest CPU that is better than yours (except for other dual cores that only give you a 15% improvement

As far as a decent CPU upgrade goes, an i5 3350p would suffice. There is some overclocking that can be done on a non-K series chip, which you can use to squeeze out some performance. But honestly the best way upgrade is a video card upgrade. When using a 7750, you won't see any performance increase since your video card is the bottleneck of your system. I have a 7770, and my i3 isn't even close to bottlenecking my system yet. Before upgrading your CPU, be sure to update your BIOs on your motherboard if it isn't ivy bridge compatible out of the box(Ex: z68 chipset). Hopefully that answers any questions you have.

How do I update the BIOs, or know if it's compatible? Is this truly the best bang for the buck at 1080p? Or would a GTX 670 be better? Or would a new motherboard do along with the i5, in which case I could xfire 7750 and 7950?
