Raid 0 on two 128GB SSD's Worth it?

Ok so I have a dual boot with OS X (my main OS) currently on a 750gb old slow HDD and Windows 8 (for games, don't use it very often) on a new 2TB HDD.

Only the OS X operating system and applications are on the 750gb one and everything else (music, movies etc) are on the 2TB HDD so I'm currently only using about 100GB of the 750GB HDD.

My question is... Should I buy two 128GB SSD's for AU$198 and set them up in raid, or buy one 256GB SSD for $189?

Is the extra speed from RAID 0 worth the extra $10?

If you have to ask the question, the answer is usually "no".
If you actually needed more speed for a specific reason, you would know it, and wouldn't need to ask.

I'd certainly go 1 larger drive. I run SSD's in my iMac and previous MBP. Makes a massive difference. Seems PCIe SSD's are the future. Not sure if ur running a desktop or laptop, but id look into those.

Obviously the way to configure a SSD + HDD combo is run the OS and all apps off the SSD. All media files etc can go on the HDD.

Look at the 2.5" Samsung 840 series drives. Great balance of power consumption, performance and price. As for PCIe drives... not sure.

Already read all that, forgot to mention sorry.

Primary use is normal web browsing etc, plus I do a little coding, and I also do a fair amount of video editing + photoshop for my media course.

At the moment, OS X boots up REALLY SLOW and I would just like it to be a bit snappier with opening applications etc.

Would a better option be getting two 128gb SSD's, using one for OS X and one for Windows 8, and all Games, Music, Movies etc on the 2TB?

A 128GB SSD is more than sufficient for the OS and those applications. :)
