i had this old 2007 dell laptop that was absolute CRAP.so i took it together,and i kept the hard drive just in case i might need it.well about a year has passed,and i am building a gaming desktop.on budget.so of course i don't want windows 8,i would love windows 7 but i just cant afford it,so what i did,is i'm going to use a 1Tb hdd i found in my closet,and boot from the old laptop hard drive,but there's a bunch of random old crap on my old laptop's hard drive (the one i'm booting from) and i want it gone.since i don't have ANY of the other parts,i cant just use the os recovery disk,but i have an adapter so i can plug it in to the laptop i'm using right now,but i dont know what all files i need to keep in order to still be able to boot from it.i need to know what files to keep,or software that wipes all but that.thanks

Your old HD will boot to Windows loading all the hardware drivers for the old laptop and none of he drivers for the new hardware. Windows activation also won't work as it won't recognize any of the new hardware.
