Hi, I thought it had two 3.0 pci-e x16 slots?

I use second pci-e slot with single card, but it indicates as 2.0 x 8

Is this normal?

Solution

That's the problem. Here's your board's spec : http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Extreme6/?cat=Specifications

2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots (PCIE2/PCIE4: single at x16 (PCIE2) / x8 (PCIE4) or dual at x8/x8 mode)

Since you only has a single 6950 in 2nd pci-e x16 slot ( PCIE4 ), it will run at x8 only. And since hd6950 only supports pci-e 2.0 standard, it will run at 2.0 x8. Moving the card to PCIE2 slot will make it run at 2.0 x16.

It is Sapphire HD6950 2GB Dual fan, only 1 card on second lane.
I used GPU-Z.

I tested with 3DMark11, and first lane's score was higher than 2nd lane.
