How can i find out what my power supply is ? do i have to take the hood (cover) off the desktop ? thanks custom built quad; thanks i want to upgrade my video card; nvidia geforce 9800 gt is my current card : what card(s) can i upgrade to ? (under $150 ?) ; best buy (30 day return); thanks

Yes, you need to take the cover off. If you've never done that before, I'd recommend doing it at least once or twice a year anyway, and use a can of pressurized air (NOT a vacuum cleaner) to blow out accumulated dust.
Your PSU should have a label on it. A screen shot of it would be helpful, unless it is clear what the manufacturer and model are.
If you can run a 9800GT, you probably have enough juice for a HD7770 or GTX650Ti, provided it isn't one of the low-power 9800GT's that doesn't use a PCIe power cable.

Best $150card last week was the 650 Ti Boost 2 GB at $140 .... now it's $155 after MIR

has highest performance per dollar or any card

And in SLI, for $310 it beats the $400-$500 cards

With the Radeon HD 7770 at $120, Radeon HD 7790 at $150, and Radeon HD 7850 above $180, Nvidia is rendering all three products ineffectual at their respective price points. With one swift stroke, the company engineered a hostile takeover of the $100-$200 market, increasing graphics performance at any given budget in that space.

Needs 450 watts for 1 card and 600 for SLI
