I am trying to debug the sound on my Dell...the speaker attached to the monitor
doesn't work...the speakers attached to the back of the computer don't work
I don't remember sound working on this Dell...I don't know how to work with the driver..I seem to have a lot of sound software...Ray

First thing, do you have them in the right port? After you check that, look in Device Manager, any errors with the sound card? Is one listed?

Did you check the volume to make sure it's not muted?

Do to www.dell.com, find the latest drivers there for your model, install them. If you are lost with that, find a friend that knows how to install drivers.

Hang...for audio devices I have...
Audio codecs legacy audio drivers legacy video capture media control devices
usb audio device video codecs
I think this computer used to be used for games....Anyway the video stuff probably
is not an issue but I should try to capture one that I can use and do something with the
driver...They are all working properly...Should I just uninstall all and restore the computer?

No need to restore the whole computer, but what is the USB audio, do you have an external USB sound card? If so, you would have a connection for your speakers on that device.

If not, go ahead and uninstall all the sound devices, and install the latest drivers from Dell.
