Additional Comments: I haven't included a graphics card because I want to save up and buy a gtx 770 or 780 rather than buy a cheap card now and only getting a few months of usage out of it. The Intel HD4600 Graphics should last me until then. Also I wanted 240gb but that was ~£175 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007R67FTY/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers so I am wondering if I should get 2 120gb SSD's and put them in RAID 0 or would the extra performance/ risk be worth it? I'll probably only be storing the OS and games etc on the SSD.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Currently running a 3 year old laptop so I need an upgrade.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the ideas, can I ask why you recommend the Gigabyte motherboard over the Asus? I was also looking to fit an SSD into the build for the performance benefits over a HDD. At the moment I don't really need a video card since I can still play my PS3 until I can afford a good graphics card. I was thinking of building this PC as a good base for a graphics card in the future which would still be powerful enough for most tasks.

Ebuyer currently have the HyperX 3k 240GB at £160, same price as 2x 120GB - http://www.ebuyer.com/363434-kingston-240gb-hyperx-3k-ssd-sh103s3-240g

Which to go for depends if you prefer speed or reliability. Obviously a RAID0 config would be much faster but you are effectively doubling the chance of failure. It only takes one of the drives to fail and your data is lost on them both. I'l leave the decision up to you but with this advice... SSD's having reliability issues is old news. They have advanced rapidly in the past 3-4 years and if anything I would trust my data more on a (decent quality) SSD than a HDD.

Questionable RAM choice as you could get 8GB 1600MHz for about £40 and struggle to tell the difference.

Aside from that your build looks great.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll go with the RAID 0 configuration then. I'll take your advice with the Ram too, would you recommend the Kingston Ram or another brand?

I'll admit it does look awesome but I'm planning on getting the non-windowed version of the R4 since I want that extra bit of silence that panel provides so I won't get to see it. And also I don't want to have to spend extra on a wifi adapter whereas the Asus includes one.

Kingston are a good brand but I usually just look for RAM with a CAS latency of 9 (or less) and get whatever is cheapest.
