i've internet connection 10mb/s and my family want a TV reciever (i don't know what it called) but it use internet to show the channels and my problem is me and my brother like to play games online FPS so it need the internet to be free, so will this reciever increase my ping so high ? if so will upgrading to 50mb/s help ?
thanks in advance and sorry again for my bad english :D
i'm new here if this isn't the correct section sorry :\

Try it out. The "TV receiver" will hog up some bandwidth, but it is usually not very demanding. But if it turns out to be too demanding, then upgrading to higher bandwidth is recommended. You may also need to upgrade your modem to a DOCSIS one if it isn't already for 50 down.

It shouldn't have much influence on your gaming as long as you have a decent quality router with QoS(Quality of Service). My parents have a connection like that. During the holidays they watch netflix, my siblings use WIFI, and I play games without issue. Only upgrade if you really think it's important.

well i hope it won't take any influence but i'm just wondering because they will be watching it everyday not the hoildays :D and i thought it will be like youtube if you are watching on youtube no one will be able to play on this network or he will lag

Nice. It is a DOCSIS modem. So upgrade only when you need to. I would suggest that you try it out first. If it works out, then there is no need to upgrade. If not, then feel free. Though, 10 -> 50 is a very big jump. Your ISP does not have a package in between like 20 down?
