GTX 660 way too hot on WarZ?

My graphics card: GTX 660. When playing the game "WarZ", my graphics card reaches 73 degrees after a few minutes! Is this too hot? Considering other, better looking, games run at a lot cooler temperatures, what could be causing the heat? I am using "Palit Thunder Master" to look at my GPU temp.

depends on the fan speed profile of the card. just get msi afterburner and create a custom fan speed profile so the fan speed ramps up more aggressively. 73 degrees isn't overheating, but it may cause the clock speed of the card to throttle down, giving lower performance. Make sure you have adequate air flow in your case. at least one good fan sucking out the hot air at the upper-rear of your case is a must.

Thank you for the help, but Thunder Master says the fan duty is 40% by automatic at 70 degrees, should I turn it up myself? On other games my GPU reaches a maximum of like 45 degrees. Also, it probably has to be something to do with the game itself considering I can run much more resource-consuming games at a lower temp.

if its running at only 40% at 70 degrees, then that is a problem. I would expect a stock fan profile to at least get to 60% for that temp. change the fan speed profile. also don't use Thunder master, its useless.

But the GTX 660 can only hit 97 without damaging itself? And if I left it any longer it would have gone OVER 73 degrees.

Also, on the front of my PC there is a temperature on a small circular screen, and it says 33 degrees when playing. However, I presume that's the case temperature as it doesn't say, it just says "TEMP".

You'd practically have to turn the fan off for it to get to 97C. Its fine into the mid 80's, and it wouldn't ever get even that hot because it has a fan curve, the hotter the card gets, the faster the fan spins. Really you have no reason to worry.

Okay thanks, but the other guy said like it being 70 degrees can slow the card down?

its fine but the gtx6xx cards start to throttle back at 70c.

msi afterburner is the program I use, you can set a custom fan speed profile and speed curve. I don't know anything about thunder master, but I have used a few other tools and msi afterburner has the best functionality.

Thank you very much, I can turn up the fan speed with Thunder Master. What is the fan speed when it will start to damage the fan? For instance, is it okay if I put it to 70 percent for a few hours whilst gaming? Or is that dangerous? Thank you very much dude.
