Hello there Tom's community. :) I am signed up in the italian community of Tom's and just to have an idea about my problem I decided to write a post in here. :)

I have a brand new Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD4H, bought at the end of May. I was preparing it for a RMA (because of a ram issue) but when I'm putting the socket cap, this one accidentaly hit the socket pins. Alot of them are strangly bented and one of them are definitely broken. :( You don't know how much guilty I am because this is my first time in a whole life that I definitely destroyed (unintentionally) a CPU socket. I tried to fix them as much as I can but it's quiet useless until a socket replacement. Is anyone here skilled enough with reballing of BGA-based components? How much should I pay for a reworks for a fair price (even in UK)?

I'd be glad to know everything is necessary about this.

Like Ur6beersaway said, it doesn't hurt to continue with the RMA process. The worst they can do is return it as is. Best case you get a new board or they fix and return your old one.

Shouldn't I risk to get it back as is and then see Gigabyte Technician laughing at me for that? I mean, I heard that they could replace it and I don't know any rates about it...

Thanks alot! I am waiting replies from everybody :)

Thanks for the advice :) I will try to RMA it directly to Gigabyte for this but here in Italy there's not any support so I probably send it to UK if they will grant to me a RMA. It's so pity to see there's not any customer centre located in my country...

Anyway I will contact the shop dealer and then find a solution at least for a partial refund of the board proceeding to buy a new one... Or try with Gigabyte Support.

In any case you tried to say that a soldering process to replace socket package would be more expensive than the board itself? I paid it 150£... :(

Thanks alot guys for the advice! :) Just another request if you don't bother: do you know the email of Gigabyte UK or some phone number about it to contact them directly? At least to attempt a refurbishment of the board... Yeah, the board is still in Warranty :)

Thanks Squeal :) I wrote an E-mail for them and we will see what will be their response the next monday... Plus I already sent an email to the shop as well... Probably I should beg for a partial refund of the board...

Sorry for the bothering guys, but i'm just already upset for the damage I did unintentionally, can't figure out how much I would be right now...
