what to do if router isn't compatible with windows gaming live

it says my router isn't compatible with windows gaming live, so it doesn't launch and it gives troubleshooting options. i cant play the game i bought, how do i make the router compatible

what is this "it" saying it's not compatible? the router doesn't talk to gaming live directly so there isn't a compatibility list. maybe what's happening is that the firewall is blocking the windows gaming live from accessing the internet, which to fix needs you logging into the router and changing some settings.

can we have some more details please? like router model, and what is actually needing "windows gaming live", is it an Xbox or a computer?
