So, today I was installing some programs and I noticed that only my SSD was appearing but, not my hard drive which i was planning to use for my programs.
I have currently my power and sata cable connected but, i noticed that there was a six pin connector that wasn't plugged in with anything. So does anyone know if i need to connect something there and if what is it that i need to plug into there.
BTW my hard drive is 1.0 tb western digital caviar blue

Hopefully you don't need to format it, try these steps first though...

Right click Computer (or My Computer) in the Start menu...click on Manage
Click on Storage (left side bar)...click on Disk Management
If the drive is showing up with all the other drives (and Healthy), right click on it and mark the Partition as Active...should be good to go (if there are no hardware problems going on)

If this doesn't work, you'll need to format it, can be done from the same screen...just right click the drive and click on format

Check you have connected the SATA cable to the correct SATA ports in the motherboard provided by the chipset, not a 3rd party controller. Check in BIOS SATA mode is set to AHCI.
Click Windows+R and type compmgmt.msc and click enter. in the new window click "Storage" > "Disk management". Is your HDD listed there?

Should just have to set it as an active partition from Disk Management...formatting MAY be necessary too
