I’ve been having a problem lately with booting my PC. It locks up and stalls during startup before it begins loading Windows. I have tried loading from a Linux disk and a Windows disk with no success. I’m assuming it’s a hardware and not a software issue.
If I leave it turned off for about a half hour before I boot up, it starts fine. That seems like something needs to cool off to me. Once it starts up, there is no problem and it is often left on for days at a time without issue.
I recently opened the case up and turned it on with the cover off. It booted immediately with no problem. I noticed that the Chipset Fan was not working well. It started and then stopped completely almost immediately. When I closed the case, it would not restart until I left it off for a half hour.
Could a problem with the fan cause my booting problems?
Regards...John
