Hello!

I would like to know if the RAM that I've chosen for my build would be compatible with the motherboard.

Here's what I've chosen:
RAM- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233245
Motherboard- https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VI_HERO/#overview

When I was younger I tried to upgrade an old computer with some new ram and it ruined the entire motherboard (BSOD no matter what i did), and upon further analysis i discovered that the ram was designed for the latest Windows OS and that's why it crashed. So i'm rather haunted by that incident and I just want to be sure I'm getting the right thing.

Also, would Windows 7 be compatible with that motherboard or would i have to get myself a copy of windows 8? And if I could use windows 7 would I be losing some extra functionality or what?

Thank you very much!

Most motherBord vendors post under motherboard support a CPU and ram qal list. These list won't have every dimm out there but they have a good slice of ram that been tested. The other list are the ram vendors themselves
Testing there ram on vendors mb.
