my i5-4670k defaults to the core frequency of 3.8ghz when it should be sitting at 3.4ghz. I'm using the gigabyte z87 UD3H motherboard. I can change the clock ratio in the bios but it defaults to 3.8ghz after reboot. Any ide why this is happening or how to fix it?

I agree, things seem fine.

You should also ensure your RAM is setup properly. You should be able to go into your BIOS and if the frequency of your RAM doesn't match what it should be (i.e. says 1333MHz and should be 1600MHz) click "XMP" and this should apply the optimal CPU and RAM settings.

In some cases with RAM a new BIOS update is needed if it's too new to have a profile in the BIOS.
