Install of second storage drive

I have an hp pavilion a4310f desktop. I have previously installed a 750GB storage drive without difficulty. It is almost full. I wish to install an additional 2TB storage drive, but have doubts that this computer system can handle it.
Concerns are power consumption with current power supply and cooling requirements, e.g. another cooling fan.
Perhaps it would be better to replace the 750GB with the 2TB, which would involve transfer of much data.
This desktop has physical capacity for another sata drive with drive bay plus data/power connections.

Any input on this would be appreciated.
I would also appreciate refrain from questioning why I need so much storage space (as has occurred on another forum), and I don't want a bunch of flash drives lying about.

Grats in advance.:)

The effect of adding in a 2TB drive to your computer in addition to the 750GB, will be you have another 2TB of capacity. It wont affect performance.

Does the 750GB have your OS on it?
Because if it does that will change the answer by quite a bit.

You would want to do it internally, SATA is a much better interface for data transfer than USB.

Partitioning is exactly as it sounds, its where you split up the drive into certain capacities and the OS see's them as completely separate drives. However, if you dont want too or have any need too, then you don't need too.

What effect will 2000+750GB have on the speed of this computer? Some have said it will slow down considerably.

What if I transfer data from 750 to 2000GB storage drive, and swap 'em out. What is th most efficient way to do this? Install 2tb hd and do this internally? Or place 2TB drive in my external drive cage and do internal to external data transfer? :??:

Also, I am unfamiliar with partitioning of hd, as I have never done it before. Was not necessary with 750GB storage drive, which works fine. :(

Please advise.
Thanx. :)
