Hello,

Everytime I install my GPU into the PCI express slot and press the power button, I get nothing. My computer won't even come on. I don't even get a BIOs screen. None of the fans come on either. Basically, when I push the power button, all I hear is a click and thats it. If I take the GPU out of the computer, it runs flawlessly.

Anyone know what is going on? This is a new build by the way.

Intel i5 3750k
ASUS P8Z77-V LK
GTX 550 Ti

Solution
Do you have another video card to test the mb with or another pc that ou can test the video card in. Right now it could be a bad gpu or bad pci slot.
Power supply not turn on shows there a short somewhere. Check pci video slot for bent pin or dirt. Check to see if the mb shorting out to the mb tray with the gpu plugged in or see if the gpu shorting a cap or part on top of the mb,

I tried this card in all three of my PCI e slots. Same outcome everytime. When the GPU is not installed, everything works perfectly (I am using the same computer to type this message)

More than likely it is the GPU. The card is old and it came out of my buddy's attic. I examined the card by taking the protective plastic cover off. One part of it is black. DOesn't look right to me and it looks like it was shorted out at some point in time. I am guessing this is why he doesn't use it anymore but he can't remember. Anyway it was free and I will just buy a new one. I don't think it is any of my motherboard slots (at least I hope so!!!) But the GPU card doesn't look normal to me. Thanks for your help and making me check for shorts though. This led me to look at the card.
