Hi there, I am about to purchase my AMD gaming build on the first week of July and I'm still having trouble deciding for the motherboard. could anyone help me?
I am choosing between the Asrock 990fx extreme 9 and ASUS m5a99fx pro rev 2.0..

I like the Asrock but read reviews that it dies or whatnot. I read every other post here but I still need a good answer backed by hard "evidence" :)

Here's my July 2013 Build

(PHP10,380) *FINAL ORDER*

PROCESSOR: AMD Vishera FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor (Black Edition)
(PHP8,450) *FINAL ORDER*

MOTHERBOARD: am3+ ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 or am3+ Asrock 990fx extreme 9
(PHP7,480) or (PHP8,890)

MEMORY: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 1x8gb ddr3 1600 Cl9
(PHP2,500) *FINAL ORDER*

CPU COOLER: Cooler Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler

(PHP4,580) *FINAL ORDER*

HDD1: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB, 64mb, WD1002FAEX Sata3
(P3,750) *FINAL ORDER*

CASING: Thermaltake overseer RX-1 Full Tower Chassis
(PHP5,350) *FINAL ORDER*

Total would be around
PHP52,400 or $1224

Thank you,

I would go with Asus over AsRock quality wise.

I would say go for the Asrock 990FX Extreme 9 Board, It beats the Asus Pro R2.0 in features and its a better price!! (My opinion)
I have the ASrock 990 FX Extreme 4 paired with the FX6300 @4.8GHz with 2 GPUs, I say ASrock has great boards for OC (Again my opinion)

Asus +1, Asrock +1....

Still a tie XD

Seing I'm on a budget, will that justify the ASUS m5a99fx pro rev 2.0?

This review could clear your mind : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/990fx-motherboard-r... . Seeing that you want a NH D14, it means that you want to do some hardcore OC. Asrock 990FX E9 would be your best pick in this situation due to advanced OC features it has. Better consider Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 at Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0' price range.

Yes it's a really nice board that Asus, and quality wise i bet it's better than the Asrock. So i would say go for that one.

Thanks for all your help.
I think I can live without the additional features of the Asrock mobo, and what little advantage it has over the Asus board.

Conclusion: The price increase of the Asrock board is not worth it over 2-3% performance gains over the Asus one. :)

Decided to go with the ASUS m5a99fx pro rev 2.0.

Sorry I can only choose one as the best answer.
I'll choose Madn3ss795 as he pointed me to a review where I got my conclusion. :)

Made some changes.... Finally getting them :)

AMD Vishera FX-8350 4Ghz (4.2ghz turbo) Processor
AM3+ Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0
Corsair GS800 800w Power Supply (2013 Edition)
Palit Geforce GTX 760 2048mb JETSTREAM Gddr5 256Bit
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR3(8x1gb) 1600 kit
ADATA XPG SX900 Series 128GB SATA3 6GB/s SSD
Internal: WD Caviar Black 1TB 64MB Cache 7 SATA 3
Case: Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 Ghost White

I went over the budget I had because of the sabertooth. So, I'm sticking with the stock cooler for a while. Thanks everyone :)

With a FX-8350 i would really advise an aftermarket cooler, can't you squeeze a CM hyper 212 in the budget?
