hey guys, just looking for some advice as i am currently running a i7 920, and Asus p6T-SE motherboard and they are beginning to feel very dated.

i am a student and cant afford too much.(dont mind spending more if it is worth it though) i am studying architecture, but i also am a fairly big pc gamer, and i do enjoy dabbling in overclocking although i dont do it in an overly enthusiast way. just enjoy learning the ropes if you know what i mean. but would like to get more knowledgeable about the whole process, so something with those capabilities would be good.
the motherboards i was thinking about are -

Gigabyte GA-z87X OC for £168
Asus Z87 Pro -£159
MSI Z87 Mpower - £191
Gigabyte GAz87X-UD3H-£151
Asus Z87 Sabertooth-£189
MSI z87 G45 - £118
MSI z87 G65 - £156

any help would be great! thanks

My pick in your list would be the ASUS Pro, but they are all very good boards. It seems around here the Gigabyte guys will recommend them, the MSI guys will tell you to get an MSI and so fourth, you forgot ASRock, a lot of ASRock fans here and will tell you they are better than any board you have in your list.

In the end you will have to make the choice, could not go much wrong with anything you have listed. Figure out what features you need/want and which ones you will never use, spec your boards out and find the best match. If your going to run an SSD and a HD, you don't need 10 SATA ports, if you do not need a mini PCIE or mSATA, don't get a board with one, you still pay for all the stuff you don't use.
Boards without all the not needed stuff puts value in other areas like power systems, board lamination, etch tech, BIOS software, things like that could be of more long term value.

Your ASUS boards only have 2 x PCIe 3.0 slots, so tri-SLI would not work so good, it works for me cause I would never do a 3 way and don't want to pay for it, 2 way SLI is as far as I would go. You may want 3 way SLI, just something to know about the ASUS boards.

Feel Sabertooth is way overpriced, the nicest looking is the MPOWER, it just screams class :)
