Should I look for a monitor with IPS or 2ms less?

This question has come up about 10 times this weekend
IPS is better for things like for photo editing
TN 120/144 Hz is better for gaming
2ms is meaningless if its an "advertised" statement .... what manufacturer says it is and what lab tests how are oft very different things
