The answer is pretty simple.

It is a Macintosh computer with a Mac OS. Games are ment for Windows in most cases, not MacOs or Linux.

Take a look at Steam's MacOS game catalog and add to it Blizzard's games, that is, nothing more.

it'll have horriendeous gaming potential:

OS issues aside (you can install windows), it only comes with a workstation graphics (AMD firepro). and it doesn't have upgradable PCIe slots. thus, you'll be lucky to run a intense game on the lowest possible settings. the new Mac PRO is built for professional content creation and that purpose ONLY...

The people who have posted here simply do not have a MacPro! No offence intended but I have a first generation Mac Pro made in 2006.Yes I have maxed out the memory and updated the graphics card but I can play all current PC games.

It doesn't have them internally, it's having them externally, via thunderbolt and PCIe case.
I think that you can play all games that support OSX, pretty damn well!
I don't have Mac Pro, but it have to do it well too!

The Mac Pro is not a gaming system. It exists for one purpose and that's multimedia content creation. Especially video editing and rendering. The CPUs are not meant to handle what's required for gaming and the professional grade GPUs are quite a bit slower clock wise for what today's visual heavy games require. You can play games on them, but they're not meant for that purpose.
