i7 4770k or Fx 8350?

I'm going to be playing hardcore games like BF4 and AC3. I'm also going to be playing minor games like Minecraft, I'd like to know what the best CPU is for me. I'm looking to maximize the FPS and overclocking isn't the first thing that comes to my mind. Please be thorough and explain why.

For gaming, I would recommend an Intel Core i5-4670K if you can fit it in your budget. An i7 is not necessary as it is more expensive and only providing the feature of Hyper-Threading, which only a few games use.

FX-8350 is a great alternative if you cannot fit the i5.

Ok. I suggest the 4670k. The 4770k is overkill, and the 8350 isn't a very good choice because of the relatively weak single core performance. If you were overclocking, it may be different, because of how well the 8350 overclocks. The 4770k is overkill because it is pretty much the same as the 4670k, with hyperthreading, and an extra .1 GHz. Games cannot use hyperthreading, and you can gain .1GHz with no problem. The extra cost isn't worth it. nNow if you are on a budget, AMD is the way to go, because of how cheap the motherboard+processor combo tends to be. But if money is no major object, then Intel is the way to go, for max FPS.

Money isn't an issue at all, so I could just go with either of the two, performance wise (Not viewing money at all) wouldn't the 4770k be better than the 4670k? I really don't mind even if it's just a little better.

There are literally only a few games that support Hyper-Threading. And those will be the only games you will see a noticeable difference in performance between the two CPU. I would save the $100 and stick with the i5. Then invest in upgrading your graphics card, which can play more of a role in gaming performance. And most games are more GPU-intensive than CPU-intensive.

In terms of gaming:
Performance: 4770K > 4670K > 8350.
Price/Performance: 8350 > 4670K > 4770K.

The point is that the 4670K is a better buy because you are not likely to take advantage of what the i7 offers over the i5. So there's no need to waste the extra money. It is better invested elsewhere like the GPU or even a SSD.

The FX-8350 is a great CPU. It has its pros and cons against the i5. The FX is better at multi-threading applications and also good at gaming. The i5 is better at gaming by a small margin and better at single-threaded applications.

go for the FX8320 its a great overclocker and has better overal value/user experience then haswell on which intel even started to cheap out on thermal solder behind the IHS thus you will hit a thermal wall sooner or later as the thermal paste is of very poor quality and will become less conductive over time. there is only one fix which would require you to murder your CPU by pulling of the IHS by force but i would not recommend doing so. the cost difference between FX8320 and 4770K is also so huge that you could buy more then 2 FX8320s for the same price. that money you could better spend else were and invest in a more decent CPU/watercooler graphics card and higher end motherboard like the sabertooth R2.0 which will ensure you of more preformence in the end.

Well if you overclock both possessors i bet the 8350 is way stronger when it comes to games in general, what seems to be brushed under the rug is that the 8350 was in general way more powerful than the 3770k when it came to gaming(especially with xsplit) i have tested allot of games with my 8350 against a friend of mines 3770k and in most games i have tested the 8350 wrecks the 3770k.(My friend has the same graphics card as me, if you were wondering)
You can also look at techsyndicate`s video about the matter for reference.
The only problem i can see with the 8350 is that i consumes more power, but in return it costs way less(money you could use to buy a proper cooler so you can overclock)
So i would advice people to look at what games they play and make a decision based on what games they want to play(If you stream with xsplit a lot the 8350 is probably your best choice)

i just built a new rig stuck with a 3570k. if its cheaper (which it is) get that instead. there really is 0 difference in gaming performance between that an the haswell. up to you though. the 3570k also overclocks a heck of alot better (temps) than the haswell if you like to oc

Misinformation. Get the 4770k if you haven't bought it yet.

BF4 utilizes HT. Everyone notices that an I5 is usually a gaming proc b/c 'most' games don't utilize HT yet. If money isn't a factor (in that budget range) then go I7 for BF4. It has already shown an improvement with HT in BF3.

Bf4 will be able to take advantage of both hyperthreading and 8 cores. Personally im waiting to see benchmarks when the the game is finally "optimized" and I can see results. As of graphics I will be getting the amd R9 290X and will eventually get another
