I made a topic late last year looking for help building a new server, but I wasn't able to buy it at the time and I'm sure the info is a bit dated now.
CPU: intel or amd is fine
Mobo: brand doesn't matter
Ram: 16gb, not worried about brand, obviously want quality parts
Graphics: Headless server, so not really needed. I would like onboard video for maintenance
Hdd: at least 20TB usable storage space, raid5. I may lower this requirement.
OS: Ubuntu server
Case: something big enough to hold all the HDDs I'll need, with some decent cooling as its going to sit an a closet.
Use: sabnzbd, sickbeard, SQL database for xbmc, plex server, FTP server and a little more power for future use
Keyboard/mouse/monitor not needed
Energy efficiency isnt a concern of mine. Please try to keep at inexpensive as possible without sacrificing quality. I'm fine with whatever price gets me the power I need.
