Thinking of getting a better cpu now like a 3570k and a lower gpu 7850 and possibly adding a second 7850 later.

What would be the benefit of sliing or crossfireing is it only ment for multiple monitors? one gpu per monitor??

whats the dif between sli and crossfire?

Most games would play well with one monitor and a single card. So it'll be much better to get a higher end single card setup if you will just be going with a single monitor setup. :)

They are just different brand names, nvidia is sli, crossfire is for amd. Programs divide the load onto two gpu, this tends to be more commonly used at higher resolutions, but that doesn't mean you won't have performance gains on a single monitor.

As he said, in general I'd recommend you get one good card rather than two slower cards, two cards tend to micro stutter(its hard to explain google it), and they just don't scale as well.
