Someone told me windows 8 comes with some sort of free anti virus computer security stuff, is this "free" program worth a dam or should i still be wanting to buy some computer security (iv always put norton on my labtops int he past its like 70 bucks but now that im building a high end gaming pc if i dont need to pay for security i can put that 70 in better places)

Okay, so I found this article: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1656329/windows-defender-computer-safe.html

It basically says defender isn't enough, so try avast if you feel it isn't enough. There are other products too, like Kaspersky or AVG but I don't know much about them. I'm still going to push my luck with this Defender thing anyway (mainly laziness and no issues currently found). If someone else could shed some light on this topic, that would be great.

Hope I've helped.

I think Windows 8 has a new version Windows Defender with it which works like an antivirus, but if you want to install a better antivirus program, I would recommend avast. I suggest against norton, as can often be found hogging resources (especially HDD) and generally causing your pc to run somewhat slower.

do you think that extra security is needed or would windows defender be enough?

Right, in that case I'm getting myself some antivirus.
