hi,
i currently have these specs,

AMD-FX-6200 overclocked to 4.2GHz
10GB DDR3 ram
Radeon 7570 2GB card
im not sure the motherboard is
the case is a full towe sizd case so plenty of room.

harddrive is a seagate 1.5TB

my current issues are that with a lot of games my processor is getting 60-90% usage and makes games quite choppy
and my GPU is underpowered and has issues with tons of games like battlefield, planetside 2, and many more.
I feel that i need some upgrades because my computers not performing as well as it should be.

I still need you to provide more info about your current PSU ( brand and model ). HD7570 is a pretty weak card, it's just a rebranded HD6570, which is bad to play demanding games. It's not your CPU's fault here, but that card. Best way to upgrade would be getting a new VGA card. But which one depends on your sceen's resolution ( need you to provide this info, too ) and your PSU.

Your current CPU is still sufficient for gaming. Plus getting an i7 will require a new motherboard also, which reduces the budget for new VGA card.

For 400$ this combo would do :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card ($329.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $399.98
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

To reduce the cost, but still ensure high/max settings in all demanding titles at 1080p, this combo should do:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT 2GB Video Card ($248.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $318.97
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

the fx 6200 may lag behind intel's similar offerings but it sure as heck doesn't suck like that. it's your gpu more than anything else.

Yes Skyrim is CPU-intensive, but then it's your vga that caused held the performance back first before the CPU has anything to do with this.

"so, what would be Intels equivilant to my CPU?" Nothing. Your FX is better than an i3, but worse than an i5 ( 50$ cheaper than the cheapest i5 anyway ). Upgrading the CPU to a FX8320/8350 would bring better performance than i5 in some games and most other heavy computing tasks.
