HD7950 Heat Issues? Help!

So I've had this MSI7950 (reference) for about 3 months now. At idle I would hover around 28c, then high 60s, top at like 72c with fans blowing pretty good(sorry for no exact number).

So recently I've noticed my idle has gone up to 29, 31, 33, 35 and the rare occasion of 37. I was just playing bf3 and had fans set to 70% and i hit 82c!!

I know these cards run hot, but I tried cleaning all my mesh dust filters on my case. I have blown air through it, but I'll see if i can go more in depth. Also, I have some thermal paste on the way, so I'll reapply.

Question is: Why is this happening? Is it possible dust thing, paste thing? Or something completely different? Any suggestions on other ways to troubleshoot this?
Thanks

Make sure your case has plenty of air space around it. If it is summer where you live, maybe turn the aircon up or get a room fan and point it towards your case.

Is the temperature going up in the area in which you live? Which could account for some of the temperature rise. i.e if the room temp was previously 15 degrees but is now 25 degrees Celcius, your GPU could easily go up 10 to 15 degrees more hotter.

At 82 degrees on your GPU the fans should be running at 100%, maybe just leave the fan setting on the default MSI program and try not to set the fan speed yourself. Or experiment with the fan speed set to 90% when you are playing games and monitor your temps and see if they are any better.

Are you OCing your GPU, if so set it back to factory default settings.

Consider buying a new case fan that either, blows air directly onto your GPU from the side or helps increase air flow in or out of your case.

Good luck

thanks for the quick responses..
- I don't think ambient temp in an issue because I live on the coast of SF and well just say it doesn't get hot.
- I really feel like this issue came about when I was OCing a little bit and running tests, but these temps are coming at stock 840/1250.
- My case is a bitfenix prodigy, yes its m-itx, but I get decent airflow, 200mm intake, 120mmtop exhaust, 140mm exhaust with rad. Soon to get h100i in pull config with rear as intake. It may be possible i need more air, but why has this changed over time then?
-Also, I usualy have my fan blowing harder then 70%, but I was playing with it at 70% (no people, just flying a jet around) and hit 82C.
